So Timothy turned six years old on the 18th. He feels very old now, and when asked how old he is, he puts on a very distinguished pose, and calmly says " I'M SIX!!!! I'M A BIG BOY NOW!!!"
We had a pretty fun day. We did not have a party, we decided to just make it a family thing. The 18th was on a friday and we gave Timothy a long weekend by keeping him home from school on his birthday. (yes, I know, we're the coolest parents EVER!) I got up right after Timothy did and when I walked out into the living room, Timothy was standing there looking at his presents very cautiously, as if he wasn't sure if he was suppose to see them yet. It was a very cute moment to witness before he noticed I was there. After letting him open his presents, we took him to IHOP for breakfast. Timothy loves IHOP and we can count on one hand the number of times we've been there, so it was a good treat. After breakfast we went home for less than an hour and then we walked down the street to the bus stop. Timothy has had a curiousity about the city bus and gets just as excited about seeing the city bus as he does a school bus. So we took the bus down town, and Eddie and I tried to avoid direct eye contact with those of a questionable sobriety status. Timothy was very excited and talked the entire time, loud enough of course, for every one on the bus to hear him. Once we got down town we went to Starbucks for a bit and then walked a few blocks to the downtown fire station. This is a pretty cool station, and Timothy, much to Eddie's dissapointment, thinks fire fighters are the coolest. But Eddie is a big enough man, and knows that when Timothy gets older, he will realize the truth. Cops are better.
We had a great time at the Fire Station, and the guys gave Timothy a tour and let him climb all over everything and ask question after question. After the station, we took him to the fifth ave. mall and let Timothy put together a bag of Jelly Beans. We caught the bus back home, grabbed pizza and movie, and then we had Timothy's cake. It was a very busy day, and all through out, there was a small part of me sad about the fact that he is growing up. God has truly blessed us with our son.
