Advent

I know there are quite a few families who love all the Christmas time activities. They do all the fun advent countdown things, lots of baking, and special outings. I enjoy seeing pictures of those families or hearing all about the festivities (as long as it’s a fun experience for them). This year for us however, I’ve felt a leading to keep things simple. No hustle and bustle, just quiet and simple. We have our commitments such as 4-H meetings, work for Timothy, homeschooling for Aubrey, Eddie out on the road and the day to day homemaking/schooling for me. But otherwise, things are quiet here. And you know what? We are in deep appreciation for it! I’m doing an advent Bible study and am really enjoying that. Aubrey is reading through “Little Pilgrim’s Progress” (we have THE best discussions after she reads aloud) and Timothy is working his way through the psalms. I know Eddie is using The Valley of Vision as a daily reading right now. If you haven’t read any of those Puritan prayers, I highly recommend you do so!
However you’re spending the advent season, I hope it’s joyful for you as you prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth.
